LTL is focused on the fundamental study of laser material interactions across length and time scales and thedetailed investigation oftransport phenomena through experiments and computations. Research is being conducted on (i) laser micro/nanomachining in the context of maskless fabrication of high performance devices; (ii) utlrafast laser materials processing for the fabrication of complex 3D photonic metamaterials and bioinspired devices; (iii) selective laser modification and functionalization of layered 2D semiconductor materials and graphene; (iv) laser driven annealing and synthesis of novel nanostructures and thin film materials for integration into advanced energy and electronic devices; (v) fabrication of nano-patterned and scaffolded biological materials for tissue engineering; (vi) nanobioelectonics and nanofluidics.
